Swansea welcome champions Manchester United to the Liberty Stadium looking to add misery to David Moyes as the Wayne Rooney saga rumbles on.
Michael Laudrup got his Swansea side playing free flowing passing football last season and brought the club its first major trophy. Spanish sensation Michu will be looked to to provide the goals and chances that made him the bargain transfer of last season, having arrived for only £2.2million. playmaker Jonathan De Guzman has seen his loan renewed and fans will be hoping he can help record signing Wilfred Bony hit the ground running and show what he can really do.
Moyes has had an indifferent start to his United days. Pre-season form was erratic, they easily over turned Wigan to win the Community Shield, he has failed to make any landmark signing as of yet and Rooney continues to be at the forefront of questions. However, last year’s winners have kept their squad intact, and as long as Robin Van Persie can continue to be amongst the goals, they will always be a title favourite.
De Guzman is Swansea’s only player unable to take part in the opening game of the season, having suffered a head injury. Bony looks set to make his debut after some impressive displays since arriving.
United have doubts over Michael Carrick, Ashley Young, Nani, Nick Powell and Javier Hernandez. Rafael will miss out after being injured in the Community Shield win and Darren Fletcher continues to battle his illness away from football.
