Tottenham Hotspur are in talks with Toulouse over the potential signing of midfielder Etienne Capoue, Sky
Capoue is a France international with five caps to his name, and has spent his entire senior career with Toulouse, making his debut for the Ligue 1 side in the 2007/08 season. A defensive midfielder who can also play in the back line, Capoue was the subject of interest from Premier League new boys Cardiff City earlier in the summer.
Atletico Madrid were also monitoring the status of the 25-year-old but Spurs are said to have moved quickest, with Toulouse’s president, Olivier Sadran, hinting that the player was bound for White Hart Lane. If Capoue does complete the move to north London he will be Spurs’ fourth signing of the summer following the arrival of Brazil international midfielder Paulinho, Belgium winger Nacer Chadli, and Spain striker Roberto Soldado.
Capoue has to date made almost 200 appearances for Toulouse, scoring 13 goals, including seven in 38 games last season. He made his debut for the senior France national team side against Uruguay, in August 2012.
