Townsend considering Tottenham exit

Serial loanee Andros Townsend has claimed that he may leave Tottenham permanently, as he continues his search for regular first team football. The 22-year-old has been sent out temporarily on no fewer than nine separate occasions since signing his senior White Hart Lane contract in 2008. The latest of his loan spells came as part of Queens Park Rangers’ relegated squad last term.

The youngster has told Sky Sports that he wishes to start making first team appearances with or without Spurs. “I think I either need to give it a go at Tottenham, or I will have to start looking for a permanent move elsewhere,” said Townsend. The England Under-21 international admitted that although he likes going out on loan because of the regularity of the games, he wants to make his career more assured.

After his latest loan move to QPR Townsend has welcomed the speculation linking him with a permanent return to Loftus Road and Harry Redknapp. Since signing his senior contract at the Lane, Townsend has only made five appearances for the Spurs first team, and he has yet to make a full start for the Lillywhites.
