Walcott welcomes Arsenal approach for Suarez but insists Gunners are already firing

Theo Walcott hopes to see Arsenal complete the signing of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, ESPN has reported, although the England international feels the Gunners are in good shape even without the Uruguayan.

Arsenal have had a number of bids rejected for Suarez, who has made little attempt to hide his desire to leave Anfield this summer in the belief that Liverpool reneged on an agreement to sell him to a Champions League club. Liverpool deny such an agreement was made and insist that Suarez’s contract does not stipulate they have to sell him if an offer of over £40m – which the second of Arsenal’s was, by £1 – is received.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers responded to Suarez’s latest protestations by demanding he show the club more respect but Walcott has not let the long-running saga change his thoughts as to the potential signing – indeed, the former Southampton forward is sure Suarez would succeed at the Emirates Stadium.

If [Suarez] comes, great,” Walcott said. He added: “Even if we stay as we are now, we are a great team and we showed that in the last 10 games last season. We just need to do that a bit more on a consistent level at the start of this year but every player who is at Arsenal is a top-class player.

You’re not going to get an average player come to Arsenal, I think that every player that is here is a top-class player. The boss has believed in so many players he has brought in and they have done so well.
