Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, two clubs expected to battle it out for a top four place in the Premier League, meet in a massive North London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
It has been a better week for Arsene Wenger, with comprehensive wins over Fulham and Fenerbahce, although despite the return of Mathieu Flamini to bolster the midfield, Arsenal are still lacking in numbers in defence and attack, especially after the injury to Lukas Podolski against the Turkish side.
Tottenham’s amazing summer of spending has continued with the signing of Vlad Chiriches and Christian Eriksen, adding to a squad that now looks formidable. As Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid nears completion, Andre Villas-Boas has now assembled a very exciting looking side. After winning their opening two games with penalties, Spurs are yet show their best form this season.
Podolski will miss the game after being ruled out for two months, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mikel Arteta, and Abou Diaby also unavailable. Laurent Koscielny could play, however.
Tottenham could hand a debut to Chiriches, while Jermain Defoe is expected to be on the bench despite scoring twice in the Europa League on Thursday.
