Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is working with a fitness instructor in Denmark in an effort to lose weight before making his way back into contention to play for the Gunners, the
Bendtner looked set to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer after spending the last two seasons away on loan, first at Sunderland and then Serie A side Juventus, but a transfer could not be agreed and he instead remained at his current club. Bendtner had fallen way down the pecking order under manager Arsene Wenger but Wenger included the Denmark international among his 25-man Premier League squad and has said he may be picked as Arsenal cope with a number of injuries.
Wenger has though admitted Bendtner would need extensive fitness work before he could make his first appearance for the club in over two seasons, while Bendtner also underwent surgery on a thigh injury and will have to rehabilitate the injury following the operation.
Bendtner’s personal trainer confirmed that the 25-year-old was working on his fitness during his time away from Arsenal and insisted he did not need to go on a crash diet or anything so extreme. “ He needs more fitness and has had a few problems,” Tomas Jorgensen said, “But it is not as if he needs to lose 20 kilogrammes.”
