Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla is hoping to make his return from injury in next Tuesday’s Champions League encounter with Napoli at the Emirates Stadium, the Metro
Cazorla sustained an ankle injury while on international duty with Spain early in September, and has missed Premier League games against Sunderland and Stoke City, along with his side’s opening Champions League game against Marseille.
He is set to sit out Wednesday’s Capital One Cup tie with West Bromwich Albion and Saturday’s game at Swansea City, but Cazorla is hoping to be fit enough to take on Rafael Benitez’ side.
The Spain international said:”I hope to be back shortly. Every day I’m feeling better and I’m working on all ways to reduce my downtime. It all depends on how I train and strengthen my ankle. As the days go by I am doing more things and if all goes well I will try to return for the game against Napoli, but that’s not certain.”
The 28-year-old is one of many Arsenal players currently on the sidelines. Although Mikel Arteta has made his return, manager Arsene Wenger is still without Abou Diaby, Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tomas Rosicky and Yaya Sanogo.
