Jose Mourinho will be hoping that an indifferent run for his Chelsea side can be put to an end when the Blues take on West London rivals Fulham in Saturday’s late kick-off.
There have been questions asked of Mourinho in recent days as Chelsea have slipped to two consecutive defeats, with some saying that he did not know his best XI. They were let down by poor finishing at Everton, while they were punished by Basel on Wednesday for a sloppy performance on Wednesday as Mourinho oversaw a rare home reverse. Supporters will be hoping that Thursday’s team meeting will help turn things around.
Fulham have earned creditable draws on their previous two visits to Stamford Bridge, and manager Martin Jol will be happy to settle for another one here, with his side also finding wins hard to come by. Last week’s draw with West Brom would have been immensely frustrating, although after seeing three goals ruled out for offside, there was an air of inevitability about the stoppage time equaliser.
Mourinho might give a recall to Andre Schurrle and Fernando Torres, who both did not feature against Basel. Ramires should return to midfield after serving a suspension.
Fulham will be without Bryan Ruiz, though Dimitar Berbatov should recover in time to start after recovering from a tight hamstring.
