Voting begins on Monday for Everton supporters to decide on a new club badge for next season, the Liverpool
The Toffees controversially changed their badge for this season, a decision that was met with anger by a large number of supporters, with the current crest being deprived of the club’s motto, Nil Satis Nisi Optimum, and two laurel wreaths, which had featured on the badge for many years.
Each of the three options now available to the fans, created by an independent design team, will ensure a return for the motto, while two of them contain the wreaths, following a long process which included the feedback of over 20,000 Evertonians.
The club’s plan was to make the new crest instantly recognisable, and to provide a representation of what the club currently stands for, with fans particularly keen for the motto to return. The club’s official breakdown of the process states: “Through the surveys and focus groups that have taken place over the last few weeks it is clear what is most important to include in the club crest.
“The clear priorities of the majority of fans are inclusion of the Tower and Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.”
