Everyone was a hero, says Man City’s Aguero after derby win

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has insisted everyone in the team emerged as heroes from his side’s victory over rivals Manchester United on Sunday, rather than him alone, reports ESPN.

Aguero scored twice as City eased to a 4-1 win, giving manager Manuel Pellegrini success in his first ever Manchester derby. Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri were also on the score sheet, and while Aguero’s goals proved decisive, the Argentine says the whole squad played a part in pulling off the result.

He told the Man City website: “All the team were brilliant. We’re all one team. There are no individual heroes, we are all heroes, even the players on the bench.

The 25-year-old admitted that he was surprised by the margin of victory, adding: “We didn’t expect it but we were really motivated and that led us to the victory. The most important thing is to give all you have. The confidence and the attitude the team had was very good and in the second half, despite winning 2-0, we kept playing like that.

The three points lifted Man City to third in the Premier League with 10 points from five games, which leaving the club behind only Arsenal and Tottenham, who are both on 12 points.
