Man City hit by Silva injury blow

Manchester City have been handed fresh injury concern ahead of their trip to Stoke this Saturday as midfielder David Silva has been ruled out of Spain’s international friendly against Chile and is set to return to Manchester sooner than anticipated.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Spanish Football Federation released a statement which confirmed that Silva had complained of suffering discomfort, and a later MRI scan revealed a light muscular injury.

The news of the 27-year-old’s problem will not be welcomed by City as they continue to struggle with a growing list of wounded players. The main area of their injury woes lies in the Citizens defence as captain Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasic have both been missing in recent weeks.

City’s growing injury worries escalated further as they managed to bring in Martin Demichelis from Atletico Madrid only to see him sidelined days later with a knee injury. Micah Richards has also seen his start to the new season hampered through injury.

The Blues’ off-field woes have hindered their Premier League progress already this season, as a make-shift defence leaked goals in their 3-2 away loss to Cardiff.
