Manchester United defender Phil Jones’ fitness is in the balance ahead of Saturday’s Premier League encounter with Crystal Palace, according to the Guardian,
Jones is absent from international duty with England after being forced off just 37 minutes into Man Utd’s defeat to Liverpool on September 1. As a result, United boss David Moyes has been short of options at right-back, with Rafael still unavailable following an injury sustained during the Community Shield in August.
If Jones does not make it for the game against Ian Holloway’s side, Moyes might again be forced to employ winger Antonio Valencia at right-back, while Chris Smalling, a central defender, is also an option.
Sir Alex Ferguson brought Jones to Old Trafford in the summer of 2011, after he showed his promise at Blackburn Rovers. He has gone on to display impressive versatility, scoring two goals in 69 appearances in all competitions, playing in a variety of positions.
