Celtic’s trip to the San Siro to face European giants, AC Milan, has been made far less daunting, thanks to the growing injury list that Milan manager, Massimiliano Allegri, has to contend with.
Prior to the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Torino, Milan were already missing the likes of Ignazio Abate, Daniele Bonero and Giampaulo Pazzini but to make matters worse, midfielders Stephan El Shaarawy and Riccardo Montolivo were withdrawn through injury.
Following that, it was confirmed that Kaka would be out for a month with a thigh strain to compel Allegri’s problems.
The hosts have struggled for form in Serie A this season – winning just one of the first three games and similarly slow start in the Champions League could really put pressure on the manager.
As for Celtic, they will be looking to take spirit from last season’s impressive performances in the Champions League, which included an astonishing 2-1 victory over Barcelona having narrowly been beaten by the Catalan giants at the Nou Camp, in the first meeting.
Celtic sit second in the Scottish Premiership, three points behind leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle and they travel to the San Siro with injuries of their own.
Scotland winger James Forrest will be missing after returning from International duty with a back problem. Joe Ledley is a doubt after being withdrawn during the weekend victory at Hearts with a groin strain, while defender Steven Mouyokolo is a long-term absentee with a ruptured achilles tendon.
