Paul Lambert returns to Carrow Road this weekend as his now Aston Villa side take on Norwich.
It has been a harsh reality check for the Scotsman in recent weeks – after beating Arsenal away in a positive display, more good team performances have seen Villa go unrewarded and teetering above the relegation places with three straight loses. Fans should not panic just yet though. A slip up last week at home will not have been welcomed, but they have plenty of young fresh talent that are capable of stopping the potential slump, with Christian Benteke and Gabriel Agbonlahor in particular in form.
Lambert was not welcomed back with open arms when he returned last season, but the Norwich faithful have taken to replacement Chris Hughton and there will be less focus on the former manager. Hughton has added well and there is a newfound goal threat to his steady side, even if they haven’t exactly been consistent so far. Home form will again prove important if the Norfolk side want to finish in the top half this season.
Elliot Bennett will be Norwich’s only absentee, missing out because of a knee injury.
Jores Okores is Villa’s most significant injury victim, and likely to miss the rest of the season after requiring knee surgery. Charles N’Zogbia will continue to miss out as he recovers from an Achilles problem.
