Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has urged the club’s fans to be patient with new manager David Moyes, Sky
So far under Moyes, who took over from Sir Alex Ferguson in June, Man Utd have taken seven points from a possible 15 in the Premier League, and have suffered defeats away to their two biggest rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City, for which the ex-Everton boss has received criticism.
But after Man Utd claimed victory over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday, Schmeichel spoke of his belief that Moyes will be a success at Old Trafford as long as he was given sufficient time.
He said: “We always knew that whatever happened after Sir Alex, it would be a bumpy road. Someone had to be really brave and take that job. We knew every little thing that he does would be scrutinised and reported on in the media. It would be a debate – is he good enough?
“Has he got a few games left before he loses his game? He signed a six-year contract, there’s a reason behind the six years.”
