After an impressive win at Anfield Mauricio Pochettino will want to see his Southampton add more misery on Crystal Palace’s tough start to life back in the top flight.
Having been the last side to beat Liverpool way back in March the Saints put in an equally solid performance to see off the inform Reds. Pochettino would have been encouraged by the rigid defending displayed by his side, especially having seen them only score two league goals before last weekend’s game. A solid defence will mean their goal shy strike force may feel the pressure slightly less and soon find their scoring boots again, especially with the quality of Rickie Lambert and Dani Osvaldo.
Ian Holloway currently sees his side lie second bottom with just one win to their name in five league games. While many predicted a struggle for the London side Holloway will be disappointed by his side’s lack of cutting edge. A tough group of starting fixtures may be pointed to but the nature of the Premier League has hit the newly promoted side hard – if you do not take your chances teams will punish you. This has been reflected in recent performances against Manchester United and Swansea.
Daniel Fox is the Saints only injury concern coming into the game, and is doubtful following an ankle injury.
Crystal Palace boast a longer injury list, and see Glenn Murray, Jonathan Williams and Yannick Bolasie definitely miss the trip. Joel Ward could also miss the game following a calf injury.
