Stoke welcome Norwich City to the Britannia Stadium this weekend hoping to take advantage of their opponent’s recent poor run of form.
No one quite knew what to predict for Stoke after long serving Tony Pulis stepped down as manager, but new man Mark Hughes seems to be winning over any critics with his attempts at transforming the style of football on offer from the Potters. They impressed at home to Manchester City, spurning several great chances to win, and if they can carry this performance over to this week they will be confident of taking three points.
With their recent erratic form there have been sections of the Norwich faithful who have started to question manager Chris Hughton. But they forget that eight players joined in the summer and will still be trying to find their feet. While this is a factor it is getting to the stage where they will need to start delivering. They have seen good performances at times this season, but these have also sometimes gone unrewarded – especially with the squad failing to take chances at important moments during games.
Erik Pieters is a slight doubt for Stoke with a calf injury but is likely to be available, and is Stoke’s only concern going into the game.
Norwich may be without Sebastien Bassong who is currently struggling with a hamstring injury, but will definitely be missing Elliot Bennett who is out with a knee injury.
