Suarez return can get Liverpool back to winning ways, says Toure

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure believes the return of striker Luis Suarez can end the Reds’ mini blip in form before it becomes something more serious, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Toure was part of the Liverpool side that lost to Southampton at Anfield on Saturday, the first defeat suffered by Brendan Rodgers’ team this season as a Dejan Lovren goal ended the club’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

The match was also the last of Suarez’s 10-game ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, with the Uruguay international available for the Capital One Cup game at Old Trafford against Manchester United. And Toure is excited at the prospect of Suarez lining up in Red again, particularly after facing him in training in recent weeks.

Suarez has been very difficult to defend against in training lately. Very, very difficult,” Toure said. “He is a fantastic player, a top striker who can score a goal at any time and he will strengthen the team. He and Daniel Sturridge will be a very strong partnership. Mobile and very strong.

I’m sure he will be ready to be thrown back in. You saw from his international appearance the other week, in the first game he’d played for a while he scored twice [for Uruguay]. That just shows how strong with guy is. His return is going to be massive for us, definitely, Toure added.

The summer arrival from Manchester City went on: “He is a winner. He wants to win. He’s always working hard and a fighter. You want those kind of players. That’s what we were doing at the start of the season. We need to do that again.
