Swansea vs Liverpool – Premier League preview

Liverpool, defending the Premier League’s only 100% record, make the trip to South Wales expecting a stern test from Swansea City.

Swansea recovered well from losing their opening two games, as they pulled off a deserved win at West Bromwich Albion. The new signings appear to be settling well, with Jose Canas showing plenty of invention and Wilfried Bony providing a clinical edge, allowing Michu to play in his more natural position, that of a trequartista.

Daniel Sturridge has been the decisive factor for Liverpool so far, scoring the winning goals in each of their three league games. The more pleasing aspect for the Reds however, is their defence, with Simon Mignolet yet to concede a Premier League goal for his new club, and they have now added two more centre-backs.

New loan signing Alvaro Vazquez is available to make his debut for Swansea, while Laudrup might continue to rotate his squad ahead of Thursday’s Europa League clash with Valencia at the Mestalla.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has some injury concerns as he returns to his former club. Glen Johnson is set to miss several weeks with an ankle injury while Aly Cissokho and Joe Allen also miss out. Mamadou Sakho should come in to make his debut.
