5 Premier League stars who will not be at the World Cup

So far, 21 teams have qualified for the 2014 World Cup. The others will be decided in November, but these five Premier League stars will definitely not be in Brazil next summer:

Petr Cech – Czech Republic
Despite undoubtedly being one of the best goalkeepers in the world, this will be the second consecutive World Cup in which the Chelsea man will miss out, as the Czech Republic could only finish third in their qualifying group, as frankly, the outfield players are a little bit short on quality in comparison.

Aaron Ramsey – Wales
As the bottom seeds in Group A, Wales were always going find things difficult. They were soon out of the running, meaning the in-form Arsenal midfielder will not be mixing it with the world’s best in Brazil next summer, along with his fellow countryman, the world’s most expensive player, Gareth Bale.

Emmanuel Adebayor – Togo
Togo have struggled since reaching the 2006 World Cup, and they rely very heavily on Adebayor to provide them with goals. The out-of-favour Tottenham striker could be nowhere to be seen for the foreseeable future unless he seals a January move…

Christian Eriksen – Denmark
As it stands, Eriksen is arguably the most notable and significant absentee at next year’s tournament. The Tottenham midfielder has a major influence on the Denmark team, but they missed out on the play-offs through having the weakest record of the European section’s second placed teams, ensuring that Eriksen’s creativity and passing ability will not be on display next summer.

Branislav Ivanovic – Serbia
Ivanovic, one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders, will not be at the World Cup, as Serbia finished behind Belgium and Croatia in Group A, meaning that they miss out on the World Cup for the first time as an independent nation. Manchester City’s Aleksandar Kolarov will also be one of those who will be holidaying elsewhere in June and July.
