Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has played down speculation linking him with a January move to Premier League rivals Arsenal, insisting that he is happy at Paul Lambert’s side, Sky
Despite being released in the summer of 2012, Lambert convinced him to return, and in the early stages of last season, he replaced Shay Given as Villa No.1. Since then, he has consistently impressed, and earned the club’s Player of the Year award in May after to making a valuable contribution as they narrowly avoided relegation.
Reportedly impressed with Guzan’s performances, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is thought to be weighing up a move for the American, in order to provide more competition for his current first-choice goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny.
But Guzan is happy to stay at Villa Park for the time being. He said: “Aston Villa, they’ve stuck by me, especially the manager. He’s given me a chance to play consistent football in Europe. It’s always nice when you’re linked with other teams, but for me, I’m very happy at Aston Villa.
“It’s a club that I think is definitely on the rise, and it’s something I want to be a part of.’
