Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has called for a stronger defensive display from his fellow teammates in order to start winning matches in the Premier League, Sky
The Potters have stacked up three straight league defeats against Arsenal, Norwich and Fulham, conceding seven goals so far this campaign. Mark Hughes’ side are currently 16th going into the international break, with seven points, along with Norwich, Fulham and Swansea City, and only goal-difference keeps the Potters out of the relegation zone.
But Begovic believes Stoke have the quality to start winning more games. “We only had ourselves to blame for losing. If you have most of the possession but don’t take your chances or make the most of your play, then the least you should come away with is a point.
“It’s tough to take, but we have to get going. It’s all part of the process. It’s a long season and we have to get better. We have the quality in the team, we just need a couple of things to turn our way.”
Begovic was named Player of the Yea, Players’ Player of the Year, Coaches’ Player of the Year and Bosnian Footballer of the Year at the end of last season, having made 38 appearances for the club last campaign.
Bosnia are currently top of Group G, as they prepare to host Liechtenstein on Friday, before travelling to Lithuania for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.
