Billy Bonds has spoken for the first time in almost 20 years about his falling out and subsequent feud with Harry Redknapp, the
Bonds served the Hammers for almost 30 years as player and manager and had Redknapp as his assistant until 1994, when he was sacked and Redknapp put in charge of the first team. Bonds felt betrayed by the move and they have not spoken since. But with Redknapp writing about the events in his recently-published autobiography, Bonds has given his side of the affair.
“For him to come out with what he said was disrespectful to the players and one or two of the staff who were over there,” Bonds told West Ham supporters’ site Knees Up Mother Brown. “ I think he’s been very liberal with the truth – but that’s much as I expected.
“ haven’t spoken to him for 20 years; I find it quite pathetic that he comes out with stuff [like that] really, to be quite honest with you,” Bonds added.
Redknapp is currently manager of Championship Queens Park Rangers, having led Portsmouth, twice, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur since he himself left Upton Park in 2001.
