Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is willing to offer Demba Ba to Galatasaray as part of an exchange deal for Burak Yilmaz, the
Turkey international Yilmaz is also a target for Arsenal and Liverpool, the newspaper claims, and was close to moving to one of the Premier League pair – and Serie A side Lazio – in the summer transfer window.
But Yilmaz remained at Gala and long-term admirer Mourinho does not want to risk missing out on the striker again, having been put off a move in the summer by the £20m price tag insisted on by his club.
Mourinho is said to hope that by including Ba in the deal, the fee will drop, making a move for the 28-year-old more palatable. Mourinho illustrated the regard in which he holds Yilmaz last season, prior to the meeting between his Real Madrid and Galatasaray, putting the player on a pedestal with Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder. Yilmaz scored 32 goals in 39 games last season.
Ba, meanwhile, moved to Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window but has struggled to hold down a regular place, competing with Fernando Torres and summer signing Samuel Eto’o for a spot in Mourinho’s XI. Ba did start against Norwich, however, and laid on the opening goal for Oscar.
