Everton have revealed which badge will be used by the club for next season, the BBC
The vote came after widespread displeasure at the crest that was introduced for this season, which was devoid of the club’s motto, Nil Satis Nisi Optimum, and two laurel wreaths, both of which had adorned the Everton badge for many years.
The first available option, which involves the reintroduction of both of these features, won the vote by a considerable margin, after being the preferred choice of nearly 80% of the Everton supporters who took part. The second and third options were a long way behind, claiming 12% and 9% respectively.
After unveiling the badge for 2014-15, Everton manager Roberto Martinez said: “I was impressed straightaway when I saw it but there has been a huge majority of fans have chosen this one. It captures what we were looking for: to have a modern touch and to be a global badge without taking away all the key icons of the football club.
“Certain icons represent many years of history and that is important. Fans made it clear they wanted to see the tower and our motto and I think it is important ‘Nil satis’ is back on the badge.”
