Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are each looking into the possibility of signing Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo at the end of the current season, the
The newspaper claims that the relationship between Pirlo and Real manager Carlo Ancelotti – from their long association together at Milan – could be a factor, but potentially more important would be Pirlo getting a guarantee of regular playing time, which he would not receive at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Pirlo’s Juventus contract expires at the end of the current season and former Juventus striker and Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli has claimed there has already been an approach from one English club. “I’ve heard rumours from England that there has been contact between Pirlo and Tottenham for next season,” Vialli revealed.
Departing Serie A is something Pirlo has admitted would be of interest, when he eventually leaves Juve. “Juve are my priority, but I don’t want to be a weight for anybody. The years go by, but it is not written that I have to stay here just because I am called Pirlo,” the Italy international told Gazzetta dello Sport. “If I had to change, perhaps I’ll go abroad. I’ll certainly continue playing for a high level team.”
Pirlo has been with the Old Lady since 2011 after a decade with Milan. The 34-year-old has more than 100 caps for the Azzurri and four Serie A winners’ medals to his name, two each with Juventus and Milan, and two Champions League titles, both won with the Rossoneri.
