Turkish giants Galatasaray are planning a January bid for Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez, the
The Uruguayan international signed for the Saints last summer for what was then a record transfer for the club at cost of £12m. However, the former Bologna player has failed to make the impact expected, and is not a regular starter in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
The 22-year-old’s agent, Pablo Betancourt, revealed that his client does not get on well with the Argentine manager and is considering his options as the window draws closer. Betancourt said: “Gaston really likes the (Southampton) chairman, Nicola Cortese, but not the coach, Pochettino.”
His manager recently came out and explained that Ramirez had not been playing due to footballing reasons. The former Espanyol boss said: “I don’t want to speak publicly about individual players.
“I don’t think that’s fair,” Pochettino added. “I just make decisions on what is the best thing for the club, the team. I just make decisions based on training and sports factors.”
Having been a regular starter last season, where he made 26 appearances scoring five goals in the process, this season has been a different story. Ramirez has started just five games, with only one being in the league.
Ramirez, who has 20 caps to his name, will be looking for first team football as he hopes to seal a place in the Uruguay squad for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
