Second-from-bottom Crystal Palace visit Anfield on Saturday in a match that the home side will be expecting to win fairly comfortably.
Liverpool responded to the defeats against Southampton in the Premier League and Manchester United in the Capital One Cup with victory at Sunderland last time out. It was hardly a five-star performance, but the link-up play between Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez will have delighted manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of the Uruguayan’s return to home action following his 10-game ban.
Ian Holloway has seen his Crystal Palace side collect just three points from their opening six Premier League games, and they have not scored since August. Expected to struggle at the beginning the season, the win over Sunderland aside, they are yet suggest otherwise despite their best efforts.
The home side are still without injured trio Joe Allen, Aly Cissokho and Glen Johnson, while Rodgers will be forced into change in midfield with Lucas Leiva banned for receiving five yellow cards.
Palace could make changes as they attempt to improve their form, although last season’s top scorer Glenn Murray, and new signing Jack Hunt are both long-term absentees. Damien Delaney is doubtful after missing the defeat at Southampton.
