Man Utd have not lost fear factor, says Moyes

Manchester United manager David Moyes has said that his side has not lost its ‘fear factor’ since he replaced Sir Alex Ferguson, BBC Sport, following the draw with Southampton at Old Trafford.

Adam Lallana equalised late on for the Saints to ensure that Moyes has still only achieved one home win in the Premier League as Man Utd boss, a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace in September. Chelsea, like Southampton, have come away with a point, while West Bromwich Albion took victory away to the champions, who currently sit eighth in the Premier League.

Ferguson, who was watching Saturday’s game from the stands, won 38 trophies during his 26 and-a-half year reign including 13 Premier League titles, and dropping points at home was rare.

The run of just five home points from a possible 12 has led to many believing that visiting teams now have more belief of getting a result from Old Trafford. However, Moyes has rejected those claims, saying: ‘Sir Alex Ferguson has a great history and his experience will always work in charge of any team. But the fear comes from the team on the pitch. The players have always been the people that have to turn out and do it.”
