As they look to improve their patchy home form in the Premier League, Manchester United welcome goal-shy Stoke City to Old Trafford.
Southampton were the latest team to take points away to David Moyes’ side, as a late equaliser cancelled out Robin van Persie’s first half strike. Man Utd have been more successful in the Champions League, with a second successive home win in Europe gained against Real Sociedad on Wednesday, however, the pressure is now on to see off opposition that they are expected to beat, as they are already eight points off the pace.
Stoke have managed a paltry total of four Premier League goals this season, with Geoff Cameron their most recent goalscorer, the American finding the net at Arsenal on September 22. Performances have also been poor of late, and they needed to rely on goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to earn a point at home to West Bromwich Albion. They currently lie 16th in the table.
Several players are returning to fitness for the champions and could be available on Saturday. Robin van Persie, Rio Ferdinand, Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck and Nemanja Vidic could all feature after sitting out the game against Real Sociedad.
The visitors are waiting on the fitness of captain Ryan Shawcross, who has not trained all week due to illness, while Cameron is in a race against time to recover from a calf problem.
