Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has dismissed rumours of Mario Balotelli leaving the club for Chelsea, having only joined in January, writes Sky
Speculation had suggested Balotelli could be leaving Milan for Chelsea to be reunited with Jose Mourinho, but Allegri has insisted such rumours are not true. Allegri moved to put the gossip about the 23-year-old to bed. “I have absolutely no fear of losing Balotelli in January,” he said. “He is a Milan player who is now living in a time when he’s not playing well, but it can happen.”
During his time at Inter, Balotelli played under Mourinho and with the possibility of working together again, the striker’s agent, Mino Raiola, came out and claimed the pair could work together again.
“Balotelli and Mourinho could be reunited because they know each other and they didn’t leave each other with hate,” Raiola said “There was a not very nice incident between them, but they parted company on good terms. They have remained in contact and there is mutual respect.
“Balotelli to Chelsea could happen because Balotelli is a great striker, but [Milan director] Galliani doesn’t want it.”
Balotelli scored 28 goals in 86 games during his time at Inter, before making the move to Manchester City, where he had a similar goal scoring record of 30 in 80 games. But the striker’s scoring record at Milan is his best yet, netting 17 times in just 23 matches. Internationally, Balotelli scored seven goals in 11 appearances for Italy as the Azzurri qualified comfortably for next year’s World Cup.
