Morrison can be future England star, believes West Ham teammate Cole

West Ham United winger Joe Cole has claimed that teammate Ravel Morrison has the potential to be in England star in years to come, Sky Sports has reported, following the youngster’s impressive performances so far this season.

After spending last season on loan with Birmingham City in the Championship, Morrison has made his breakthrough at Upton Park in recent weeks, becoming a regular starter and scoring two goals, form which has seen him earn a call-up to the England U-21s, for whom he scored twice in a 5-0 victory over Lithuania on October 15.

And Cole, who himself has plenty of experience on the international stage, scoring 10 goals in 56 appearances for England national team, winning his most recent cap in the 2010 World Cup, believes that Morrison possesses all the qualities needed to star at international level, and that he might be in the running to go to next year’s World Cup.

He said: “He’s 20 now, that’s young but I think Theo went at 17 and I was 19. He’s got a chance. I think any English players will be thinking they have a chance. Certainly the young ones because Roy (Hodgson) has come out and said he’s going to go with youth over experience.

“His attitude is spot-on. He loves football, which I look for in a player the most. He loves his football. You can see the joy when he’s playing.’
