Ahead of another big weekend in the Premier League which begins at Selhurst Park on Saturday, here is a look at five players to keep an eye on:
The Argentine is in excellent form for Manchester City, with five goals in three games, aided by the creativity of David Silva. Two strikes away to CSKA Moscow put Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the driving seat in the race to reach the Champions League knockout stages, and such as Aguero’s form, he could make the difference when Man City take on title rivals Chelsea on Sunday.
Despite gaining seven points from their previous four games, Aston Villa have looked much less of an attacking threat without the injured Benteke, who returns against Everton on Saturday. He will come up against a tough defence comprising Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin, but the Belgian has what it takes to torment them when provided with the service.
Arsenal’s record signing has not disappointed so far, making an immediate impact as the Gunners have soared to the top of the Premier League. After scoring twice last week, he looks set to terrorise a Crystal Palace side without a manager as well as much confidence. Alongside Santi Cazorla, expect the German to be pulling the strings.
One of Southampton’s most consistent performers since they achieved promotion to the Premier League, Schneiderlin’s displays are now just starting to make people sit up and take notice. He has continued to impress since he was partnered with Victor Wanyama in the midfield, and he is likely to put in another great shift when the Saints take on Fulham.
It was important that Soldado managed his goal from open play in the Premier League against Aston Villa last time out, as questions were beginning to be asked in relation to the form of Jermain Defoe. The Spaniard is undoubtedly a fine finisher, and may just go on a very good run now that confidence has been restored, which is bad news for Hull City, who visit White Hart Lane on Sunday.
