Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to return to winning ways at home by beating ninth-placed Hull City on Sunday afternoon.
Two subsequent away wins have helped banish the memory of the humbling 3-0 loss they suffered against West Ham United, after the previous long away trip in the Europa League. The win over Aston Villa on Sunday was not vintage Spurs, but they had enough quality to see them through. The same went for Thursday’s game against Sheriff Tiraspol, where they often came close to conceding, particularly in the first half.
And Tottenham will not underestimate Hull, who have kept clean sheets in both of their previous Premier League visits to White Hart Lane. The Tigers have been very competitive so far on their return to the top-flight, and were somewhat unlucky to come away with nothing from their trip to Everton, in which Yannick Sagbo scored his first goal for the club.
Andre Villas-Boas is expected to make several changes to the team that started in Moldova, although Etienne Capoue, Danny Rose, Ezekiel Fryers and Younes Kaboul are all likely to miss out.
Hull duo James Chester and Robert Koren are still absent through injury, while goalkeeper Allan McGregor and striker Danny Graham have joined them on the treatment table. Jake Livermore is ineligible to play against parent club.
