West Ham United midfielder Ravel Morrison is to earn a place in Gareth Southgate’s England U-21 squad for the Euro 2015 qualifiers against San Marino and Lithuania, reports the Daily
Morrison, who left Manchester United in acrimonious circumstances without starting a senior game, joined the Hammers in January 2012 and has just broken into the team after scoring three goals in 30 appearances on loan at Birmingham City last season. So far this time around, he has scored three goals in seven games in league and cup.
The highly-rated 20-year-old is to be given a chance at international level by Southgate, who was appointed following England’s poor performance at this year’s European Championships, after which Stuart Pearce was sacked.
So far, the former Middlesbrough boss has led the U-21 team to four points from two games in their qualifying group, with West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino scoring the winner at home to Moldova, and the goal which earned 10-man England a draw in Finland.
