Fresh from their victory over fierce rivals Swansea City, Malky Mackay’s Cardiff City travel to Aston Villa looking for their second away win of the campaign.
Paul Lambert’s side are starting to find goals hard to come by, and have now failed to score in their last four Premier League outings, the latest of which coming at West Ham United, where they created few chances. Villa will also be under pressure to improve on their disappointing home form, as they have so far lost four of the five games they have played in front of their own supporters.
Cardiff will be in a buoyant mood, and will fancy their chances at Villa Park after Steven Caulker’s header secured a memorable win in the first ever Welsh derby in the English top-flight. It was a tight game, with chances few and far between, but the result lifted the Bluebirds to 12th place, four points clear of the relegation zone after 10 games.
Villa will be waiting on the fitness of left-backs Joe Bennett and Antonio Luna. Jores Okore will be out for several months, but Gabriel Agbonlahor should be fit enough to return.
The visitors are unlikely to make many changes from the win over Swansea, although Fraizer Campbell and Aron Gunnarsson could be recalled to the starting XI. Summer signing Andreas Cornelius is still on the sidelines.
