Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho will travel to Brussels on Thursday in order to scout Radamel Falcao playing for Colombia against Belgium as he prepares a £60m bid for the striker, according to the Daily
Chelsea are favourites to sign the striker, who currently plays for Monaco, despite interest from Manchester United and Real Madrid. United are also planning to send scouts to the match on Thursday, but Mourinho’s relationship with Jorge Mendes – Falcao’s agent – may tempt the forward towards Stamford Bridge in January.
Despite having Demba Ba, Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o on their books, the Blues are hoping to land the Colombian having failed to snap up Wayne Rooney in the summer.
Falcao could represent Chelsea in the Champions League this season if he was to join the Londoners, giving the club even more reason to make the swoop.
But Mourinho faces further competition with Real Madrid also admiring the 27-year-old, who was a former player for rivals Atletico, where he scored 70 goals in all competitions from 2011-2013 before joining Monaco. He has eight goals in his first 11 games for the Ligue 1 side.
