Donovan open to third spell at Everton

Landon Donovan has admitted that he misses Merseyside and has opened the door to a third spell at Everton, reports Sky Sports.

Donovan previously spent spells at Goodison Park in 2010 and 2012, and with the MLS season now over talks are thought to be at an advanced stage to see the 31-year-old return to Premier League action once again.

Donovan – who once stated his unhappiness with then-team-mate David Beckham for seeking loan moves in Europe between MLS seasons – said: “I would absolutely love to go back – and there’s no doubt I will at some point. I miss the people. I miss the players a lot, and I miss just the positive energy of the fans walking into the stadium and how much they care about the club.”

The USA international proved a hit during his two stays on Merseyside, making 17 appearances and scoring two goals in total – and new Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is thought to be keen to continue to allow Donovan to build a name for himself at the club.
