Galatasaray have given up their hopes of signing John Terry as they have realised he doesn’t want to leave Chelsea, writes the
Terry is out of contract come the end of the season, sparking interest from Galatasaray, but manager Roberto Mancini has now given up on his transfer target having accepted Terry is happy at Stamford Bridge.
Despite Terry’s decision to stay at the club, the 32-year-old will only be offered a one-year extension as part of the club’s policy for players over 30.
The former Manchester City boss was keen to strengthen his Turkish side, who he wants to compete in Europe with next season with the likes of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder, who have signed long-term deals at the club.
Terry has started every Premier League match this season under Jose Mourinho and couldn’t be persuaded to move to Galatasaray, despite the offer of £3.2m a year after tax for a possible period of three years.
Mancini’s side are currently sixth in the Super Lig with five wins, four draws and two losses after their first 11 matches.
