Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said that he believes that goalkeeper Joe Hart will benefit from a spell out of the starting XI after several high-profile mistakes, writes Sky
Hart was dropped for Saturday’s emphatic 7-0 Premier League win over Norwich City after he made his latest error in the defeat to Chelsea, which gave Jose Mourinho’s side a last-gasp victory. Previously, he had been responsible for goals scored by Bayern Munich, when they won 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League in early October.
Costel Pantilimon came in for his Premier League debut on Saturday, and Pellegrini has said that a spell on the sidelines will help Hart. He said: “Joe needs a rest. I think it will be useful for him. “He played the last two years and had every match here. Every player can have a bad moment. We will work hard behind Joe so we can return him to his normal performance as soon as possible.”
“I don’t know when he will be back in the team but he knows he must work very hard. He has the support of myself and all the players. He is the No.1 here in England and I am sure he will return to the normal performances he’s had in the last two years.”
