After suffering their third league defeat of the season at Chelsea, Manchester City will be desperate to begin a long unbeaten run by defeating Norwich City at the Etihad Stadium.
A mistake by Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart in the final minute of normal time gifted the three points to their title rivals, and much of the talk since has been about whether manager Manuel Pellegrini will opt for a change between the posts and hand Costel Pantilimon his Premier League debut. The Romanian did not do his chances any harm on Wednesday either, as he kept a clean sheet at Newcastle United in the Capital One Cup.
That Man City were forced into extra time at St. James’ Park may provide encouragement to Chris Hughton’s visitors, who are in need of a positive result themselves having not taken their chances against Cardiff City in their previous league outing. Norwich currently sit in the relegation places, and their form has led a vocal minority at Carrow Road to call for Hughton’s removal.
Man City captain Vincent Kompany is still out with a thigh injury, while Stevan Jovetic is a doubt after being forced off at Newcastle.
Robert Snodgrass and Nathan Redmond are both unlikely to feature for Norwich, with midfielder Alexander Tettey and striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel both certain to miss out.
