Manchester City will be aiming to extend their perfect home record when they take on goal-shy Tottenham in an important game on Sunday.
While their form at the Etihad Stadium is superb and full of goals, Man City’s away record is already threatening to hinder them in their pursuit of the Premier League title, as defeat at lowly Sunderland left them with just four points from a possible 18 on the road. It is a major concern for manager Manuel Pellegrini with his side in eighth place, but at the same time they are only five points behind the leaders.
Tottenham are a point ahead of their opponents, despite having scored 19 fewer goals. Eight clean sheets in their first 11 games have been vital, with finding the net proving to be a massive problem for Andre Villas-Boas. Last time out against Newcastle United, they did manage to create enough chances to emerge with the three points, only for visiting goalkeeper Tim Krul to produce a magnificent individual performance.
Man City are still without key players David Silva, and captain Vincent Kompany. Joe Hart is likely to remain on the bench despite a good performance for England against Germany on Tuesday.
Christian Eriksen picked up an injury on international duty and will not play for the visitors, although Hugo Lloris should return in goal.
