Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has backed England goalkeeper Joe Hart to work his way back into the Manchester City side, ESPN
England’s No.1 was dropped for Man City’s 7-0 victory over Norwich City on Saturday following numerous errors for club and country which has sparked criticism from the media. Across the city, United’s stopper De Gea suffered a similar run of form following his move from Atletico Madrid, with back up keeper Anders Lindegaard being handed several opportunities between the sticks.
De Gea bounced back from these setbacks and is now a regular starter for the Red Devils and he believes Hart can do the same. He said: “Joe Hart is a great keeper. It’s very complicated to play at the top level and never to make mistakes. I am sure he will work very hard to go back into the first 11 and sooner or later he will make it.”
The 22-year-old shot stopper returns to his homeland on Tuesday evening as United travel to San Sebastian to take on Real Sociedad in the Champions League. The home side come off the back of a 5-0 thumping of Osasuna at the weekend, whilst United will look to consolidate their position at the top of the group with a positive result in Spain.
Hart, meanwhile, looks set to continue his spell on the Manchester City bench as the Citizens take on CSKA Moscow at the Etihad on Tuesday evening.
