Pochettino in awe of ‘title favourites’ Arsenal

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino believes Arsenal can win the Premier League this season as the Saints prepare for the challenge of facing the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, reports the Daily Mail.

Despite Arsenal’s trophy-less period, Pochettino thinks the current league leaders can maintain their form for the rest of the season.

Southampton travel to the Emirates while sitting in third place in the Premier League, and could leapfrog Arsenal providing Liverpool lose in the Merseyside derby, but the Pochettino is well aware of the threat Arsene Wenger’s side pose.

I would say that the team that we’re going to play against on Saturday is the one that’s playing the best football in the league,” he said. “I think they can win the league, but I also think that there’s other teams that are going to be in the running to win the league.

I think it’s going to be a hard-fought competition throughout until the end of the season. It’s going to be very competitive and I think it’s going to be a very exciting end to the season.

Southampton are unbeaten in five matches as they head to North London, having scored 10 goals and conceded just three in that spell. They also have one of the best defensive records in Europe, having conceded just five goals.

The South coast outfit were victorious at Anfield against Liverpool and picked up a point at Old Trafford in October.
