Reds were beaten by the better team, admits manager Rodgers

After seeing his side go down 2-0 away to Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admitted that his side were beaten by the better team, Sky Sports has reported.

Despite a promising start to the game, Liverpool fell behind on 20 minutes when Santi Cazorla followed up after his initial header hit the post. From then on, Arsenal controlled the match, and Aaron Ramsey sealed the three points for the Gunners with a stunning strike shortly before the hour mark as the Reds struggled to create many chances.

The victory for Arsene Wenger’s men meant that they established a five point lead at the top of the Premier League from opponents Liverpool, and Chelsea, who also lost on Saturday. And following the result, Rodgers had no complaints. He said: “I thought the best team won. Their mobility and passing was better than ours and we could’ve done better with the two goals.

“We kept going all night, the players have been brilliant in their application. They went right to the end. We created chances, we just couldn’t put the ball in the net.”
