Southampton defender Luke Shaw looks set to disappoint Man United, as well as a host of other potential suitors, after stating his commitment to the St. Mary’s outfit, according to The
Shaw is considered as one of England’s brightest prospects and has been linked with a move away from the Saints, with Man United’s interest in the left-back being one of the worst kept secrets in football at the moment.
The 18-year-old, however, says that leaving the club is the last thing on his mind, and he hopes to stay and help Southampton keep up their massively impressive start to the season. The club currently sit in the Champions League places, and Shaw wants to stay and do his part to keep the club up there.
“I don’t really take notice of things that are written about me – it is frustrating at times, but I just laugh it off. They (the media) don’t know anything because they aren’t around the training ground and in the dressing room with me.
“They should know that I’ve signed a contract at Southampton and I’m not even thinking about moving. I am happy at Southampton because I’m playing football, which is exactly what I want to be doing.”
Speaking to the club’s official matchday program, Shaw reiterated his commitment to the club where he has served since signing as a youth player at their academy. He continued: “There are a lot of people out there that like to twist things – especially on social media – but I’ve said a lot of times that I am happy here, so I’ll just carry on.
“I think people are starting to realise what sort of a club Southampton is. We are young and ambitious, and we want to go places in the next couple of years.”
