Southampton pair Lallana and Lambert confident ahead of Arsenal fixture

Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert have revealed Mauricio Pochettino’s side are going into their meeting with Premier League leaders Arsenal full of confidence, Sky Sports has reported.

Lallana and Lambert were both part of England’s recent fixtures – along with club colleague Jay Rodriguez – having played important parts in helping the Saints into the upper reaches of the table in the early season. Southampton travel to the Emirates Stadium in third place and, if they were to record a victory in North London, would go level on points with the Gunners.

Arsenal have lost twice in the league this season and Lallana can see no reason why Southampton can’t be the third team to conquer Arsene Wenger’s side. “We’ve got a tough game at the weekend and I’m thoroughly looking forward to that,” he told Southampton’s official website.

It’s a massive game. It’s top versus third so why can’t we go there and get a result?,” the new England cap added, pointing to Southampton’s successes on the road already this campaign. “We’ve done it at Old Trafford and at Anfield already this season,” Lallana noted, “So the lads will be full of confidence and I’m really looking forward to it.

Lallana’s sentiments were echoed by Lambert, who said: “We’re going to go there confident,” adding: “We know it’s going to be one of our hardest tests to-date because Arsenal are playing well at the minute. It’s going to be tough, but we’re confident that we can go there and get something.
