It will be an early start for supporters of Newcastle United on Sunday as their team travel to Tottenham for a mid-day kick-off at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham continue to find goals hard to come by in the Premier League, having scored just nine in their 10 games so far this season. Despite dominating the first half at Everton in their previous league game, there was no incisiveness from Andre Villas-Boas’ side, and relatively few chances were created as a result. That game was followed by an unconvincing win over Sheriff on Thursday, which secured their place in the knockout stages of the Europa League.
Alan Pardew’s gameplan was carried out to perfection last time out as Newcastle pulled off a surprise win over in-form Chelsea, a result which moved the Magpies back into the top half after what has been a largely inconsistent start. Loic Remy continues to score goals, while a depleted defence has begun to show great resilience.
Tottenham are expected to revert to a more familiar line-up after several changes were made for the game against Sheriff. Hugo Lloris should be in goal after the much talked about incident with Romelu Lukaku at Goodison Park, but Danny Rose and Sandro are both out.
For the visitors, Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor and Paul Dummett are once again unlikely to feature, while Vurnon Anita could make the starting line-up after impressing from the bench against Chelsea.
