Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has exclusively told BT
Podolski moved to the Emirates Stadium from Cologne in the summer of 2012, and has since made 46 appearances, scoring 18 goals. He is soon to return from injury, having not featured for the Gunners since late August, when he was injured playing against Fenerbahce in a Champions League qualifier.
When asked what he liked most about England, the 28-year-old said: ‘I like the mentality of the people here. The fans, the normal people on the street. It’s a big city with a lot of things to do. I feel very relaxed here.’
Interviewed alongside his Arsenal and Germany teammates Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil, Podolski also claimed that Brazil legend Ronaldo is among his sporting heroes, adding: ‘There are a few (sporting heroes). Boxing, I like Mike Tyson. And I like F1 so, Michael Schumacher. And I like Ronaldo, but the Brazilian one!’
The trio were also asked to confirm if there was a German chef working at Arsenal, and Podolski replied: ‘Yes. Per always orders something special. German tomato soup! No one is allowed to get into the kitchen apart from the Germans!’
