Cristian Tello has put Liverpool on high alert after admitting that he could seek a move away from Barcelona if he does not see an improvement in his lot in Spain, writes The
Tello has recently been out of action following an injury, but has found it difficult to establish himself in Gerardo Martino’s first team this season.
Liverpool had wanted to take the 22-year-old to Anfield during the summer, but were unsuccessful in their efforts, but it would appear that the tide could now be turning their way if Tello doesn’t get more playing time in the red and blue.
Tello joined Barcelona in 2010, signing for Barcelona B, before moving up to the first team in 2011, and has since gone on to make 46 first-team appearances, netting 10 goals – but this return and current form have not been enough to convince boss Martino that he warrants a regular starting berth.
Tello said: “You wait and see how the season goes and if by the end I do not play what I want, I will raise out. Taking that step will be quite difficult but I think we appreciate the role of each.
“As the years pass you want the role change and have more minutes.”
Brendan Rodgers has already made it clear that he will be seeking to bolster his squad in January, especially consider Daniel Sturridge’s eight-week absence due to an ankle injury.
